So I am a pretty computer literate person, I hold down a day job as a web developer, I can follow instructions (look at my ikea cupboards, not to mention the German instructions for the shoe cabinet - that was hard).

The question then is why did I feel that setting up this blog took so much more effort than I expected? Is this a case of people being expected to discover the gems (or not) for themselves, is this part of every bloggers journey?

For one thing why are there themes which are not mobile responsive? especially given the minimal effort I put into making the one I chose work on responsively (designers out there please don’t judge me)?

Why is commenting turned off but default, and the processes for enabling it require googling? Sure it would increase the screens in the signup process, from lots to too many.. but is this really an optional extra, or could it easily be included as core? Or at the very least make it more obvious how to enable this functionality.

And maybe I chose the wrong theme, but it meet my main requirements, it was free..

But no Facebook/Twitter sharing, surely that is core, especially in this Digital age?
