I don’t ask this ‘in gest’.

For one thing I think of myself as a reasonable senior coder, however, I known that many people out there are better than me.

The question I want to ask is how are they better, and in the world or tech today, do we need to judge ourselves against others?

I ask this because I saw an explanation that made me sit back and think “thats good” and then I asked myself, what would my answer be?

Would it be as good? does the answer made be a better or worse programmer? does it matter, or is it more important that I ask the question?

Honestly, I think what makes any programmer good is the ability to question oneself, to understand that other can also know more and to be willing to learn. To realise that you can be wrong, but also have an opinion when asked.

Hopefully, I meet my own criteria if not then it gives me something to aim for. :)
